What people say about Hitomi Sato
My daughter is 9 years old and we started piano lessons when she was 4. We tried different musical schools and individual teachers, but we weren't able to find the ideal combination and balance of teaching skills and a personal touch, until we started lessons with Hitomi 2 years ago. The lessons are fun and my daughter is not waiting for this time as a chore to complete, instead she is looking forward to a new lesson with the teacher. Hitomi has outstanding teaching quality, a lot of patience and can feel if the child understood a particular subject or requires more work. Her personal touch allows us to choose the pace the child is more comfortable with. Hitomi is so dedicated and in love with the subject she is teaching, we feel so grateful we have the opportunity to study piano with her.

I have started piano as an adult. Now I have been 2.5 months taking lessons with Hitomi and she is making me progress so much! I can play (some) Canon, Nocturne, Ave Maria, Walts, Chopin. She doesn't allow me to give up, she is always the spark to continue, her patience is a gift, her lessons are fun. There is no other teacher that will make you learn as she does!

How has Covid-19 affected lessons?
Due to social distancing requirements I have moved all of my teaching to an online format. Although of course this isn't as good as actually being in the same room as my students, I find I can still provide an excellent lesson format and my students have been happy with the results.
What RCM Grade Students do you teach?
What if I don't want to take an RCM Exam?
I have many students who just want to learn to play the piano to the standard that suits them, without necessarily taking any RCM Exams at all. The emphasis of these lessons is to have fun and learn to play some pieces of music that inspires the student, without getting too caught up in the technical details.
Do I need my own Piano?
I normally teach out of my own studio on my 6.1" Heintzman Grand Piano. I strongly recommend daily practice, so once you start taking regular lessons you should at least be willing to buy a keyboard or upright piano, as practicing at home will drasticly speed up your progress.
Can you come teach at my house?
I prefer to teach out of my own studio as I have a 6.1" Heintzman Grand Piano which is an excellent instrument for you to learn on. However if for some reason you are unable to come to my place we can discuss alternative arrangements, though usually there is an additional cost.
Note that due to Covid-19 all lessons are online for the foreseeable future.
Can you come teach piano to Japanese students?
